Villefranche
- Our morning outing by bus along the Moyen Corniche ($3 for a
round trip) took us to Monaco.
We ambled down through the exquisite park above the Monte Carlo
Casino and made a circle around the building and along its shoreline
balustrade before stopping at a street front table at Le Café
de Paris for a bottle of Le Bastide Dauzac Margaux accompanied
with olives and crackers. We took our leisure as we people (and
Lamborghini) watched at our table across from the Casino. It's
a lovely town with lots of pricey shops. We entered the Casino
with its impressive multi-hued marble - rust columns, ivory walls,
black, gold and gray floors and trim. We strolled back to the
bus along the shore - marina, fabulous yachts, deep blue waters.
Villefranche is charming, picturesque and has some interesting
sites. Note: Bus runs from Nice to Monte Carlo and a ticket costing
11 francs is good all day. Excerpt
