| With only four hours in the port of Ajaccio,
we took a bus tour in order to have a chance to see some of this
verdant island. We visited Corsica Pam (an herb distillery in the
mountains - it is said that the scent of the maquis is in the winds
of the Mediterranean), Maison Esteban (a nougat maker - one local
specialty is made with myrtle liqueur) and Domaine Peraldi (a winery
and large producer of the local grape, sciaccarello). Ajaccio is
on the west coast of Corsica (birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte).
